One crusaded tirelessly for Native American citizenship rights. The other became America’s first Native doctor. Whether translating at Chief Standing Bear’s landmark civil rights trial or working 18-hour days to save her beloved Omaha Indian people, Susette and Sussan La Flesche devoted their lives to pushing the social justice needle on behalf of America’s Native people.
