State Senator Kate Bolz introduced LB 355 which is a bill that authorizes the creation of Native American Cultural Awareness and History license plates. Such plates would require a $5 fee for a standard alphanumeric plate, or $40 for personalized plates. Any funds in excess of cost raised by such plates are to be reserved for the Native American Scholarship and Leadership Fund, also established by this act. The Native American Scholarship and Leadership Fund will be created to fund scholarships to Native Americans to attend a post-secondary educational institution in this state and to provide other leadership opportunities to Native Americans.  These funds will  managed and overseen by the Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs.  Upon passage of the bill, the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles, with input from the Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs, will develop a design for the plates.
