The Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs hosted its annual tribal veterans ceremony on the 14th floor of the Nebraska State Capitol on Wednesday, November 10, 2010. This ceremony honored Nebraska’s tribal veterans, with special recognition to the contributions of World War II veterans.
Representatives of Nebraska’s four federally recognized tribes participated at the event which featured keynote speaker Charles “Chuck” Trimble. This event is part of the Indian Commission’s observance of Native American Heritage Month and also serves as an opportunity to display the tribal flags of the four Nebraska tribes (Omaha, Santee Sioux, Ponca and Winnebago).
These flags are being flown on the 14th floor the entire month of November in recognition of Native American month.
