The Nebraska Commission is pleased to hear the successful outcome of the Supreme Court ICWA case and the continued recognition of tribal sovereignty. NCIA Board Chairman Kameron Runnels issued the following statement on behalf of the commission:
We are all relieved to hear this law will continue to stand and gives people of all tribal nations the power to preserve our traditions through future generations, and will continue giving tribes the power to govern themselves without intervention from the federal government. Thank you to everyone and all the groups who spoke out in support of tribes and families.
