The Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs helped facilitate invitations to Nebraska Tribal leaders from Governor Jim Pillen to attend his State of the State address followed by a brief meet and greet with the Governor.  Later representatives of the Omaha tribe held a press conference in the Capitol announcing several bills and initiatives of importance to the tribe as well as other Nebraska tribes.  As part of its many duties, the Indian Commission works closely with the State Tribal Relations committee as well as other Senators to identify and track bills that are of significance and impact to tribes.
