As defined in LB 848 signed into law August 15, 2020, flags representing the four Nebraska headquartered flags (Omaha, Ponca, Santee Sioux, Winnebago) will be displayed in the Warner Legislative Chamber of the Nebraska State Capitol.
Immediately following the dedication ceremony, the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska will present a Powwow Exhibition in the second floor rotunda of the Capitol Building. Then, a small reception with coffee and doughnuts will be hosted by Senator Brewer and Senator Pansing Brooks in the Capitol’s first floor cafeteria. Everyone is invited to attend this reception.

This dedication event will recognize Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte, the first Native American physician in the United States. It will feature the unveiling of a larger than life size sculpture created by renowned artist Benjamin Victor.
The reception immediately following the unveiling and Powwow Exhibition will be open to the public and held at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center, 332 Centennial Mall South.
